across an entire organization and defining Enterprise Boundaries<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">While the <strong>System Context Diagram<\/strong> (Level 1) provides a focused, zoomed-in view of <strong>one specific software system<\/strong> and its immediate external relationships, the <strong>System Landscape Diagram<\/strong> zooms way out to show the <strong>big picture<\/strong> \u2014 the entire portfolio of software systems across an organization (or a significant part of it) and how they relate to each other at a high level.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">This is one of the three supporting views in the C4 Model, and it is particularly valuable in medium-to-large organizations where dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of applications coexist, often with complex integration webs.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"auto\">Purpose of the System Landscape Diagram<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The primary goals are:<\/p>\n<ul dir=\"auto\">\n<li>Provide <strong>enterprise-wide visibility<\/strong> into the software estate<\/li>\n<li>Show how individual systems (each of which could have its own detailed C4 hierarchy) fit into the <strong>overall organizational picture<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Define clear <strong>enterprise boundaries<\/strong> \u2014 what systems are considered internal (owned\/controlled by the organization) vs. external (third-party SaaS, partner systems, regulatory bodies)<\/li>\n<li>Highlight major <strong>integration points<\/strong>, <strong>data flows<\/strong>, and <strong>dependencies<\/strong> at portfolio level<\/li>\n<li>Help stakeholders answer strategic questions:\n<ul dir=\"auto\">\n<li>Which systems support which business capabilities?<\/li>\n<li>Where is the most integration complexity \/ technical debt?<\/li>\n<li>Which legacy systems are still critical?<\/li>\n<li>How does a new initiative fit into the existing landscape?<\/li>\n<li>Where are the biggest risks from external dependencies?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Unlike a System Context Diagram (which treats one system as the center), the System Landscape has <strong>no single center<\/strong> \u2014 it is a peer-to-peer view of many systems.<\/p>\n<h3 dir=\"auto\">Key Elements of a System Landscape Diagram<\/h3>\n<ol dir=\"auto\">\n<li><strong>Software Systems<\/strong>\n<ul dir=\"auto\">\n<li>Each major system is shown as a box (the same abstraction used in Level 1 System Context).<\/li>\n<li>Use real, recognizable names: \u201cCore Banking Platform\u201d, \u201cCRM (Salesforce)\u201d, \u201cE-commerce Frontend\u201d, \u201cWarehouse Management System (Manhattan)\u201d, \u201cIdentity &amp;
